Faded Tranexamic Acid Dark Spot Patches for Hyperpigmentation by Topicals

What is it?: A brightening patch with Tranexamic Acid to fade the look of hyperpigmentation

Why It's Trending: Topical’s Faded line is well known and documented for helping those with hyperpigmentation. These patches join the Faded Cleansing Bar, Faded Eye Patches and the iconic Faded serum.

Key Thing: With the help of Tranexamic and Kojic Acid, these are clinically proven to fade the look of hyperpigmentation and post breakout marks in as little as 6 hours!

Price: $22 USD for 20 patches

Where to Buy [Sephora/Ulta/Brand site/etc.]

My Take: I simply can’t wait to try these! As someone who gets hyperpigmentation if I just sneeze, I am definitely looking forward to putting these to the test. I love the Faded serum as well as the cleansing bar, so I cant image these will be any different. The claim of preventing post breakout marks and protecting the skin barrier has me adding to cart, especially this time of year when skin barrier can be compromised. The smallest breakout can have me fighting for weeks to undo the damage that was done, so if you are suggesting this will cut that fight down to as little as 6 hours, sign me up!

Perfect For: Anyone prone to dark marks and hyperpigmentation. Can be used if you have Normal, Dry, Combination or Oily skin.

How It Compares: This seems to be Topicals take on Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch Micropoint for Dark spots. Hero Cosmetics uses 395 dissolving Micropints infused with Salicylic Acid, sodium Hyaluronate niacinamide and willow bark, where Topicals uses Kojic Acid, tranexamic acid, niacinamide and Vitamin C to get the job done.

Bright On Daily Foam Exfoliator by Farmacy

What is it? A daily AHA micro-exfoliating foam cleanser that reveals softer, brighter skin in as fast as 30 seconds.

Why is it trending? This foam cleanser joins Farmacy’s Brighten Up 3% TXA Toner to deliver a more even skin tone and more refined texture.

Key Thing: Mandelic acid and upcycled tangerine peel brightens and clears the skin while fermented lemon peel and panthenol gently exfoliates, hydrates and soothes the skin barrier.

Price: $38 USD

Where to buy: Sephora.com or Ulta.com

My take: If you haven’t noticed by now, I am all about achieving healthy glowing skin and as a skincare obsessed girlie, this is on my list to try. I love a good cleanser, especially one that can multitask and is safe enough for daily use. I am very familiar with Farmacy’s Cleansing Balm (goated) and their toners and their famous Honey Potion Plus mask, however I have yet to try one of their cleansers. Shame on me!

Perfect for: Anyone looking to improve their tone and texture. For skin types normal, combination and oily.

Dew N Plump Intense Hydration Slushie Face Mask by Fenty Skin

What is it? A leave on mask designed to deliver intense hydration for up to 72 hours that can be used at night or as the last step in your skincare routine.

Why is it trending? Fenty Beauty is adding an Intense hydrating mask to join their already popular Dew N Plump Hydrating Nectar Glow Serum. This mask is said to lock hydration and moisture for up to 72 hours, improves moisture barrier, instantly and intensely hydrates and improves skin elasticity.

Key Thing: formulated with a unique hydra-gel texture with these cool hydration boosting oil bubbles that gives it a slushie like texture. Polyglutamic and Hyaluronic acids act as mega plumper hydrate and bind moisture to the skin, their Superquench Juice Complex replenishes, revives and plumps up the skin with more hydration and Kalahari Melon and Baobab oil are the encapsulated oil bubbles that help condition and nourish the skin.

Price: $36 USD

Where to buy: Sephora.com, Fentybeauty.com

My take: Fenty had me at bursting oil bubbles and slushie texture. While things can sometimes be a gimmick, Fenty does not play when it comes to skincare, makeup, body care or hair care , they just know how to make it fun and innovative. There has not been one Fenty Skin product that I tried that I flat out just did not like. Do I prefer the Milky Fat Water of the original? Yes. Do I wish their Total Cleans’r came in a pump instead of fighting for my life with that tub? Absolutely, however, the products are still good. I am all about extra hydration, since my skin tends to dehydrate more often due to wearing a mask at work, so if they are promising 72 hours of hydration, I have to see what’s up!

Perfect for: Anyone needing a little boost in hydration that has normal, dry combination or oily skin.

Body Care

Daily Moisturizing Body Scrub by Tree Hut

What is it? A body scrub gentle enough for daily use that moisturizes while you shower.

Why is it trending? Tree Hut has been coming out with a multitude of new scents and formulations that keep them a trending topic. Their new moisturizing scrub delivers in shower hydration and gentle exfoliation with intoxicating scents sure to elevate your shower routine.

Key Thing: Shea Butter, Natural Hydrated Silica and Natural Oils work together to provide deep and long-lasting moisture. Formulated in a whipped foamy texture, it is gentle enough for daily use making every shower a self-care moment.

Price: varies by retailer; $8.99- $11.75 USD

Where to buy: Amazon.com; Target.com

My take: I LOVE a good body scrub and shower routine. I am the girl with 4 bodywashes, 4 scrubs, an exfoliating bar, loofa and African net sponge at the ready! I am excited to try this body scrub since I love their OG formula I can’t wait to see how they compare. Their standard body scrub is not drying in the least because it has the mixture of shea butter and natural oils, so I am eager to see how the formulation of Hydrated Silica compares.

Perfect for: Anyone looking to add a new hydrating product to their body care routine. Safe for sensitive skin, however it is scented so take that into consideration.

My take: Do I even have to say it? If I do, then I will: ABSOLUTLY! The Glow Getter body wash stays in my rotation so naturally, this will be in my shower as soon as it is delivered. I love how their Glow Getter Collection doesn’t leave that tacky feeling on my skin, as if I did not get all the product off, but leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Why is it trending? PHLUR’s Vanilla Skin is either on your shelf or someone you know that is into fragrance. Either the perfume, the body mist or both is on people’s top 10 list of vanilla fragrances and now they have an oil to compliment scent for the ultimate layering experience.

Key Thing: This body oil has the key ingredients of vitamin c to brighten skin tone, skin mimicking lipids fir a healthier looking skin barrier and floral oils that nourish and easily absorb into the skin. Massage into damp skin.

Top Notes: Pink pepper, pink apple sugar crystals

Heart: Lily, jasmine petals, cashmere wood

Base: Benzoin, vanilla, sandalwood, agarwood

Perfect for: Vanilla lovers looking to amplify their scent projection and longevity.

 Price: $45 USD

Where to buy: sephora.comphlur.com

My take: GOURMAND GIRLIES TO THE FRONT! I am and always will be a vanilla lover through and through. I don’t care if I have 6 vanilla body oils, no 2 are the same and I stand by that. With that being said,  I can’t wait to smell this! I was looking for it in stores to see how it works with my skin, but its online only in my area. The Vanilla Skin EDP is a little spicy on me while the body mist is more cozy and not as spicy, which I prefer. I can’t wait to see how they compare to each other.

The Love Ballads Collection by Brown Sugar Babe

What is it? A new collection of nourishing body and perfume oils by Brown Sugar Babe “inspired by the emotions, moods and memories only love can create.”

Why is it trending? Brown Sugar Babe is known for their scented body and perfume oils with a mix of original scents and scents inspired by popular and niche fragrances.

Key Thing: The collection has 4 new scents with inspired by very popular niche fragrances:

Price: Nourishing Body Oils: 2oz; $33 USD; 4oz; $65 USD; Perfume Oils; $75 USD

Where to buy: Brownsugarbabe.net

My take: I love Brown Sugar Babe in general. I have an account, loyalty points, in the Facebook group- YES- Facebook- and I am constantly building my wish list for my next haul. When the collection was announced, I was lucky enough to be chosen for their “First Sniff Program.” The first 200 people that signed up received testers of the fragrances before launch, so I can give my honest thoughts based on me owning them. And if you have been around this blog you know honesty is my best and only policy! Below are the scent notes of each and my honest opinion of each, ranked from least likely to buy, to definitely coming home:

Mi Amoré: Deep, intense and unforgettable.

Top Notes: Passion Fruit, Plum and Bergamot

Heart: Rose, Saffron and Jasmine

Base; Patchouli, cedar, sandalwood and vetiver

Inspired by Lovers by Fragrance De Bois $435 USD

** This was my least favorite of the four, primarily because all I smelled on me was rose. That’s it, that’s all. I am not an overly floral girl in the least; however, it smelled amazing on my best friend. I feel like later on down the line I will come across a fragrance and say, “you know what would layer well with this? Mi Amore…” I do not see myself buying this scent, but I do see myself maybe borrowing from my bestie once or twice when she isn’t looking…

Iconic: Confident, magnetic and captivating.

Top Notes: Passionfruit, tonka bean and ginger.

Heart: Apricot, freesia and osmanthus.

Base: Tonka Bean, sandalwood and musk.

Inspired by Linora by Mind Games; $395 USD

** When I first smelled Iconic, I wasn’t too impressed, but someone suggested letting it sit for a while. Great advice because now, I like it! I recently paired it with Just Peachy by Sand and Fog and What the Fluff. Chef’s kiss! I will purchase this in the 2oz at the very least..

Matchamony: Calm, intimate and comforting.

Top Notes: Bergamot and Bitter Orange

Heart Notes: Matcha Tea and Fig

Base: Vetiver and cedarwood

Inspired by Matcha 26 by Le Labo; $340 USD

** This is my second favorite of the collection which surprised me because (brace yourself) I hate matcha. THERE I SAID IT! I don’t like the smell and I don’t like the taste. Now that we got that out of the way, when Kayali dropped Freedom Musk Matcha, it changed my mind and now, I am more open to giving matcha scent notes a try. This scent on me pulls matcha and bitter orange giving it a citrus spring vibe on me. I am open to trying Matcha 26 now instead of completely ignoring it when I go to Nordstrom. I don’t think I will like it enough for $340, but based on this oil alone, I know why the original is such a cult classic. The uniqueness versus everything I own is the only reason why this has a slight edge over Iconic, however I would be lying if I said I would buy this before I get Iconic. Don’t get me wrong, Matchamony is coming home eventually, just not in a rush.

On The Prowl: Playful, sweet and just a little dangerous…

Top Notes: Bubble Gum, apple and strawberry.

Heart: Heliotrope, orange blossom and magnolia.

Base: Sugar marshmallow and musk

Inspired by Pink Panther by House of Silage; $418 USD

These came in twist off caps and of course i knocked one over, so i ordered roller balls on Amazon. photo by @cocoapixi

** You already guessed what my favorite was going to be! This is the night version of BSB’s Pink Poundcake. The heart notes balance out the sweetness and what remains is a soft floral yet sweet scent. Enough floral to be sophisticated but enough sweetness to make it versatile. When I saw the price of Pink Panter my heart sank because based on this oil, I need it immediately! But for now, BSB will hold me down and Pink Panther will be added to my Dream Fragrance Shelf. Survey says: kiss this money goodbye the moment I get paid because it is going straight to Brown Sugar Babe!

Perfect for: Those who take fragrance layering seriously, or anyone that is looking for a nourishing body oil that wants to smell like luxury.

Vanilla Sin: Addictive. Risque. Sinful

Top Notes: Black cherry, hazelnut, vanilla infusion.

Heart: Fresh fresia,, almond cream, frangipani, cacao

Base: Burbon vanilla, incense Peru balsam

Banana Milkshake: Rich. Flirty. Decadent

Top Notes: Musk melon, Banana Milk, papaya

Heart: Apricot Skin, vanilla orchid, pineberry ( white strawberry)

Base: Vanilla Ice cream, rum wood, tonka bean

Marshmallows: Playful. Inviting. Delicately Sweet.

Top Notes: Marshmallow, Lemon, peach skin.

Heart: Caramel accord, benzoin, vanilla orchid

Base: Milky musk, amber woods, patchouli Indonesia

Price: 3oz; $26 USD; 8.1oz; $39 USD

Where to buy: sepora.com; ellisbrooklyn.com

My take: I own the original Marshmallows which is one of my favorite mist and also, marshmallow is one of my top 3 scent notes. When I saw Ellis Brooklyn revamped the packaging, I was a little annoyed because I adore the original heavy bottle, however, when I read the details of the new packaging, I couldn’t even be mad. Marshmallow is a scent that I will always repurchase, and I am excited to own Vanilla Sin. I have smelled it a few times and I love it. As far as Banana Milkshake, I have reservations about smelling it because I despise bananas- the actual fruit, not the flavor or the scent. Inn the back of my mind I know it smells good because Ellis Brooklyn does gourmand well, but every time I reach for it, I just SEE bananas. I will get over it eventually and when I do, I will come back and rank it.

Perfect for: Gourmand lovers that want to smell delicious without breaking the bank.

How it Compares: The old packaging was frosted glass bottles with etching, color gradient and made a visual statement with the small size holding 1.7oz for $35USD and the new packaging, which is lighter, plastic and non-breakable and offers 3oz for only $26 USD. While some consumers prefer the aesthetic of the old packaging, they appreciate the value of more product at a lesser price.
