The Drop Report- September Edition

September is here and so are the drops that have me questioning my bank account balance! From fall beauty launches to those sneaker releases that had me refreshing websites at ungodly hours, this month definitely delivered. Let's dive into what had me reaching for my wallet, what made me pause and think twice, and what's currently haunting my browser tabs.

This is your monthly reality check through all the hype; no PR packages here, just honest takes from someone who must choose between groceries and that new eyeshadow palette (kidding... mostly). I'm cutting through the Instagram ads and TikTok sponsorships to give you the real tea on September's most talked-about releases, which was very fragrance heavy!

Here's how I'm breaking it down for you:

Window Shopping - Intrigued but not convinced I need it yet
Future Purchase - Want it eventually, but no rush
Cart Committed – Couldn't live without it, money is already spent!

Why is it trending? This luxury Arabian perfume house has been taking over social media since the popularity of their Eclair Collection. The collection has Six gourmand scents:

Vanilla Freak- Top Notes: Cupcake Accord; Middle Notes: Cinnamon, Almond, Sugar Frosting; Base Notes: Vanilla, Musk, Buttercream

Mallow Madness- Top Notes: Strawberry, Raspberry; Middle Notes: Marshmallow, Freesia; Base Notes: Vanilla, Cream, Musk.

Whipped Pleasure: Top Notes: Caramel Popcorn, Salted Caramel; Middle Notes: Jasmine,, Milk; Base Notes: Tonka, Benzoin, Musk, Ambrofix

Berry On Top: Top Notes: Strawberry, Chantilly Cream; Middle Notes: Cooked Sugar, Strawberry Jam, White Flowers; Base Notes: Musk, Vanilla.

Choco Overdose: Top Notes: Dark Chocolate Fudge; Middle Notes: Cocoa Powder, Cupcake Accord; Base Notes: Vanilla, Caramel, Benzoin.

Cookie Crave: Top Notes: Cocoa Butter; Middle Notes: Cookie, Sugar, Milk; Base Notes: Vanilla, Whipped Cream, Sandalwood.

My take:  Since you already know I am a vanilla girl, their new collection made me do a double take. Is the packaging over the top and a bit childish? Yes, but that is also what caught my eye. I can't smell these fast enough! I have a luxury perfume store in my mall that sells this brand, and I have been checking every weekend to see if they have arrived. I was told the brand was waiting 2 weeks until after the New York launch to ship them to stores, but either way I hope to get one asap!

Boucle Silk Airbrushed Finishing Powder

By: ONE/SIZE

Release date: September 4th

Price: $40

Why is it trending? Hand baked in Italy, this pressed powder delivers an ultra- blurred airbrushed finish that is said to give you a filter in real life. The luxe powder blends into your skin to give an instant soft focus finish that lasts all day long.

My take: I was absolutely looking forward to this. As someone with large pores, I am always looking for ways to minimize their appearance. I am always skeptical about complexion products because my undertone is tricky, so the moment my Sephora Bestie let me know they were in store, I went straight after work. We tried, we played and… I wasn’t THAT impressed. Hear me out- the product was amazing, but it wasn’t enough to ignore my budget. If I had an extra $40 laying around, I would have purchased, but the earth didn’t really move for me. I will get it eventually, when my other finishing powder runs out.

By Fenty Beauty

Release date: September 5th

Price: $37 USD

Why is it trending: Fenty Beauty is taking clinically tested skin care and primer formulas and swirling them together to create your newest primer obsession. The formula is said to extend makeup wear for up to 12 hours and have the grip without the stick. The Mattifying+Blurring Primer is for balanced to oily skin types for all day shine control and blurring while the Hydrating+Plumping Primer is for dry to balanced skin types for all day hydration and plumping. Maple sap Extract grips and extends makeup for up to 12 hours.

My take: I am VERY interested in this, especially the blurring one. If Queen Rih Rih can minimize these pores then I am all for it! Fenty Beauty rarely gets it wrong when it comes to foundation, so I will definitely be checking this out when I run out of my current primer.

Vanilla Blackberry Body and Hair Mist

By: Phlur

Release date: September 10th

Price: $25 USD

Why is it trending? This TikTok shop exclusive has scent notes of blackberry, purple freesia, black currant and vanilla in a deep purple shade that will look great on any vanity. This unisex fragrance launched during the brands TikTok live and it was flying off the shelves.

My take: Everyone knows I love a vanilla scent and I love Phlur and against my better judgment, I went on Tiktok shop the moment it launched and purchased it without smelling it. I never do that, and I am so glad I did! It smells really good, and I have already layered it with Heavy Cream and Vanilla Skin. This is definitely something to add to the collection.

Oudgasm Chocolate Oud | 11 and Oudgasm Milky Musk Oud | 30

By: Kayali

Release date: September 1st

Price: $38 USD 0.34 oz; $140 USD 1.7oz

Why is it trending? Kayali is back with new editions to the OUD line up with Chocolate and Milky Musk. Chocolate is described as "a decedent gourmand that wraps the skin in a warmth that feels edible and sexy" and Milky Musk is described as "a delicate exploration of oud's quieter side; soft, creamy and skintimate."

Chocolate Oud; Top Notes: Mate, Caramel Apple, Spiced Rum; Middle Notes: Orris, Jasmine, Incense, Cinnamon; Dry Notes: Dark Cocoa, Cashmere Wood, Sandalwood, Chocolate Oud, KAYALI Signature Accord.

Milky Musk Oud; Top Notes: Pink Pepper, Strawberry Cream, Coffee, Saffron; Middle Notes: Incense, Sandalwood, Milky Musk; Dry Notes: Tonka Bean, White Musk, Silver Oud, KAYALI Signature Accord.

My take: Kayali is my favorite fragrance house and that is no secret; and while I am excited to smell this fragrance, the Oud gives me pause. These scents are usually very strong on me and not in a good way. The scent notes are very interesting so i cant wait to see what it smells like in person.
