Disney+ Is All I Need To Get By
I tried to fight it. I did not want it. I lied and told friends I was not interested. I ignored all promo articles about how cool it would be? I knew how cool it would be, but I could not afford another streaming service. I have zero children so how could I possibly justify paying for a bunch of cartoons I knew the words to and had basically on DVD or Blu-ray? Everyone I knew had already pre-registered for the service and were having countdowns all across social media. I was at work when my partner in crime sent a simple text: “Are you ready to watch the Infinity Saga?”
Excuse me? As in watching the house that Tony Stark built? YES! ALWAYS! I said of course! He said, “ok let me know when you log on to Disney+ tomorrow!” Wait what?! No! I explained that I did not sign up for it and I couldn’t really afford another streaming service. I was really trying to be a responsible adult and it is holiday season! His response? “We’re in the endgame now.” With that I logged on and signed up. I am a complete sucker for my Avengers.
The next morning, I woke up bright and early and added the app to my smart TV. As I browsed the app, of course I was in awe. I expected nothing less that Disney magic. All of my Disney favorites, every Star Wars AND just about every Marvel movie with the exception of about 3 (they have dates on those on when they will be released) and tons of old shows. I had every intention on starting with the first Iron Man but what did I do? I cleared my throat and started right with Beauty and the Beast. It had to be done. Since I tried to stay away, I really didn’t have much prior knowledge to what they offered so I started playing the “I bet they don’t have this” game. They had it all. Everything I needed and even things I didn’t know I wanted.
I love the magic and warm feels that Disney movies bring. Nostalgia is something that will always be warm received but what got me more geeked was the Star Wars and Marvel. I was raised on Star Wars and as far as sagas go, I feel like Marvel is my generations Star Wars. Timeless franchises that will go down in history as some of if not the greatest and for $7/month I have them all at my fingertips. I don’t even know why I waste my time saying no to Disney. It will always be yes.
