Tone It Up! My Favorite Toners Right Now!

Toners are a step in skincare that I refuse to skip. A toners job is to balance your skins PH after washing and to get rid of any leftover impurities on the skin (which there shouldn’t be any if you are on #teamdoublecleanse.) I have some toners that I used to moisturize and some to treat any active breakouts or post breakout marks and the one I use basically depends on what my skin is in need of at the moment. Here are my favorite toners in no particular order:

Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Facial Toner- 6.7oz $38

This toner is said to combat skin congestion with Umbrian clay which is rich in minerals. It is supposed to absorb access oil and help with blemishes, pores and oiliness. This toner actually smells really good and it has a weird look to it. Shake before using to activate it and it comes out looking like watery clay but don’t worry, this is colorless on your face. My skin instantly feels softer after use and my skin feels hydrated which is a major key.

OLEHENRIKSEN Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner- 6.5oz $29

This toner is not one to play games. It has a high potency of AHAs, and its main job is to reduce the look of dark marks. I like this toner because it seems intimidating, but it was very gentle to me. It has a bunch of extracts to sooth the skin and it also addresses fine lines, wrinkles, dullness and uneven texture. I tend to use this toner after a flare up has gone away and I do not have an active breakout.

Fenty Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum- 5oz $28

I love this toner/serum hybrid because of the texture, which is literally fat water. Thicker than a toner but thinner than a traditional serum, this is packed with goodies such as Niacinamide, Australian Lemon myrtle and witch hazel water which helps reduce oil, refine pores and helps reduce the look of dark marks. It is noncomedogenic and has a light scent. It leaves my skin feeling conditioned and it easily absorbs into the skin. This is easily my morning toner because its light and it adds moisture, so my skin does not feel dry throughout the day.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid- 5.07oz, $39

This is a moisturizing toner I use day and night when I feel like my skin is a bit on the dehydrated side. It is lightweight and it gets your skin ready to absorb the next product in your skincare routine. It is supercharged with “a 5-cera complex” that leaves your skin moisturized and glowing. The texture is almost like a watery lotion but it absorbs quickly once you massage it in. I discovered this when my skin was going through a dry spell one winter and I fell in love. This is a product that stays in my online Sephora cart, ready to be ordered at a moments notice. It is marketed towards those who have dry, flaky and rough textured skin, however I love it for me and what I use it for.  My skin is closer to normal than dry, but I go through dehydration spells here and there and when I use this a few times a week, those spells are far and few in between.

Belief Aqua Bomb Hydrating Toner- 6.0oz $28

I use this toner morning and night just because I like it. Extra moisture never hurt anybody, and this is super lightweight and fast absorbing. It is good for all skin types and it addresses dryness, dullness and uneven texture. The star of this show for me is the honeysuckle which helps to sooth and calm the skin and baobab which helps lock in moisture and prevent water loss. This whole line pretty much is geared towards hydration and I love many of their products.

In conclusion toners are necessary. They do so much and if you are not using them, could be the missing step in your skincare routine. Not sure where to start? Google estheticians and see if they have a YouTube page. A lot of them are giving advice for free .99, or do what I did- go to your local Sephora and ask for a skincare specialist. They can test your skins hydration level and recommend products based on that. It is a free service that you should look in to, and get it done every 3 months to see what is working and what isn’t.
