Where Do I Turn When My Skin Needs Hydration?

When my skin is looking and feeling a bit dull, I break out my hydrating serums and oils. There are times when my usual skin care arsenal needs an extra pick me up because for whatever reason, my skin just has an attitude. According to an article on Wanderbeauty.com;

“Hydration” is the absorption of moisture from the air and then infusing your cells with water to improve your skin’s ability to absorb moisture and nutrients.

“Moisturizing” is about trapping and locking in the moisture to build your skin’s natural protective barrier. This will prevent any water loss and ensure that your skin remains soft and smooth.

When I reach for these hydrating products, I am looking for one thing and one thing only- extra hydration. That is it and that is all! I don’t necessarily need any acids or any acne fighting ingredients. Here are a list of my tried and true favorites at the moment and if you have any recommendations, hit me up and let me know what they are!

 Farmacy Honey Grail Ultra- Hydrating Face Oil- 1oz; $49

This is lightweight oil is fast absorbing and has buckwheat honey known for antioxidants, soothing and humectant properties. This oil has a slight honey scent which is expected from the title, but it is not overpowering. It is kind of thick, yet it does absorb quickly with zero greasy residue.

 Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum- 1.69oz; $49

Drunk Elephant is consistently on my list and I use at least one of their products every day if not every other day. B-Hydra is a lightweight gel serum that is fast absorbing, and it has been known to calm my skin irritation if I have any. I keep it in my skincare fridge, so the cooling gel makes it all the better. It is said to visibly replenish the complexion and improve the look of texture with the help of Pineapple Ceremide. I use this day and night for a few days when I feel my skin starting to take a turn, but I have been known to use it everyday for a couple of weeks, just because I love the product. This product has 220 pumps per bottle.

 Sunday Riley Juno Antioxidant+ Superfood Face Oil- 1.5oz; $38

I decided to try this oil because I loved their U.F.O. oil and I was not disappointed. It is a nourishing oil that helps restore the skins natural moisture barrier with a blend of antioxidants and superfood seed oils. This oil is heavy and it doesn’t absorb as fast as other oils, but that doesn’t bother me. The only thing against this oil is the scent. It doesn’t smell bad, but the scent is strong so if that is something that bothers you, try a sample first because the scent does linger.

Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask- 1.69oz; $54

 I am a fan of Drunk Elephant can you tell? This “mask” has a four-electrolyte blend of antioxidant rich and powerful humectant ingredients but it is still gentle. Use this in the very last step right before bed and you will wake up with soft nourished skin. It is labeled a mask but it feels like a moisturizer and this electrolyte cocktail supports the skins acid mantel. This was one of the products I tried right off the bat the day it came out without a sample because Drunk Elephant does hydration well, and I was not disappointed.  This product has about 36 applications per bottle.

CeraVe Healing Ointment- 3oz; $10.99

   This thick ointment is packed with all types of hydrating properties. This is formulated for severely dry cracked skin, but I use it anyway. Using this overall has improved my skins moisture level. It is VERY thick so it takes a while to absorb which is why I use it right before bed. I feel as it has helped my overall skin health and it is currently spring. I can’t wait to use this in the fall when my skin is actually on the dry side to see what it can do. Although it is super thick it is noncomedogenic which means it will not clog pores. This is also one of those hard to find things in my area so thankfully a little goes a long way.

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil- 0.5oz; $40

 Omega 6 and 9 and Marula Seed Oil come together to make this amazing face oil. I love this oil especially when you mix it with Lala Retro in the colder months. Dehydration? We don’t know her, nor have we met her when these 2 come together. This oil stays in my rotation because it is lightweight, no scent and just easy. It is like your favorite t-shirt that no matter how many times you wear and wash it, it still fits like new. Their entire line is formulated to balance your skins pH balance, so this oil is a great addition to any skin care regimen. This product has about 300 drops per bottle.

Those are my top hydration picks for tried and true products. Many I have tried, but few have reached repurchased status. Hopefully we have some in common, if not, I hope I introduced you to some new favs, and I look forward to you sharing your favs with me!
