My Favorite Moisturizers At The Moment!

  Moisturizers are essential in reducing the chances of skin problems like extreme dryness or oiliness. Finding the perfect moisturizer is important because the one thing I hate is to apply it and 5min later, my skin still feels tight or dry. I used to think that something was wrong with ME when my skin still felt tight and dry after applying the newest moisturizer. I applied it right and it seemed to be very popular, so why didn’t it work for me?  What I learned is that it wasn’t meant for my skin type or for whatever concerns I had at the time. My skin is dehydrated, so here are my favorite moisturizers that are my tried and trues, and although I might stray to try the new kid on the block, my heart belongs to them;

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptied Moisturizer – 1.69oz; $68

 OK the price is steep I get that. I totally understand but this moisturizer right here is my spring/ summer lover. It is not as heavy as her sister that I will mention next and the texture is lightweight and gel based. It is packed with 9 signal Peptieds which are made up of “amino acids, which form proteins in the skin and bind moisture to the skin.” Infused with six African oils and plant ceramide complex, this moisturizer is literally one of my favorites. Except the price. I truly love it, but my bank account doesn’t. It is definitely worth every dollar if you want to splurge and usually save up to get it. This container has 100 pumps which means 100 uses. One pump is all you need.

 Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides- 1.69oz; $60

Lala is a great moisturizer for the colder winter months. It is heavier than Protini and also has the same 6 African oils and plate ceramide complex. The ceramides in this moisturizer are identical to the ceramides that occur naturally in our skin that help moisture balance. I use this baby nightly in the colder months and whenever my skin is feeling a bit dry on a random day. It is so nourishing and although it is a heavy cream, it doesn’t feel that way once applied. For an extra dose of hydration, mix it with a pump of B-Hydra or Marula Oil. You will not be sorry. This container also has 100 uses. If you suffer from dry skin and are looking to try a moisturizer, Drunk Elephant usually has a holiday set with this as the main start with a bunch of little samples of their other products for the same price.

Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic+Retinol Anti- Aging Moisturizer- 1.07oz; $75

  I use this moisturizer at night when my dark marks are starting to resurface. It is a rich cream and it smells wonderful. It is packed with the power of retinol combined with an ECG Complex and ferulic acid to improve your skins complexion. Within a few days my skin was glowing and just looked healthy. I definitely saw a difference after about a week which I made a mental note of. Retinol is a tricky product, and I was glad to find something that had it that did not irritate my skin or had to work it slowly into my routine.

Belif True Cream Aqua Bomb- 1.68oz; $38

 This moisturizer was recommended to me when I was in need of a lighter moisturizer and I was on a budget. My skin had looked dull for a while and with the weather heating up, my heavier moisturizers were not helping my skin. My girl Ally (Sephora Skincare Specialist) suggested I tried this gel based beauty and I loved it instantly. It was lightweight and absorbed quickly because my pet peeve is when I feel like there is stuff on my face.  This moisturizer also has the 3 ceramides (are you seeing a theme here? Good) and is an instant shot of moisture for dull, dry skin. I use this moisturizer when my skin is behaving itself and I need mothing more but moisture. You can’t beat the price point and if you need a little more moisture, they have a cream version for the same price.

 I try and keep my moisturizers hydrating with the exception of the Dr. Dennis Gross. I prefer for my serums to do the heavy lifting and let my moisturizers replenish my skin, especially after an exfoliation. I try and keep one component of my skincare routine with chemicals, unless it is super gentle and my skin can handle it. As always, please research and ask questions to people who has been certified before starting a new skincare routine. I am just a girl addicted to sparkle and skincare.
